If you own licenses for more than one flavor of Cubase, the Steinberg Activation Manager (SAM) can quietly activate additional licenses on any computer where you launch Cubase 12.(It took them TWO WEEKS to respond to my support request, by the way.) If you burn an activation you have to contact Steinberg support. When Steinberg first announced the new licensing method, they said we could deactivate products from our Steinberg accounts, but they quietly removed that wording from the licensing FAQ and dropped the feature. There is no way to deactivate licenses for computers that were reformatted, broken, or stolen.If you own Steinberg products that haven't converted to Steinberg Licensing yet, you have to use FOUR different apps just to get your stuff installed and properly activated. Steinberg uses FOUR programs for this: Steinberg Download Manager, Steinberg Activation Manager (for steinberg licensing products), eLicenser Control Center (for eLicenser products), and Steinberg Library Manager.

Waves, Native Instruments, and Arturia each use a single program to handle all software and content downloading, installation, and licensing.But now that it's been resurrected: The new Steinberg Licensing system really sucks, and actually Steinberg's entire licensing/installing/downloading ecosystem really sucks.

I didn't catch this thread when it was first active.
